Excellent Lake Beach for Little Ones

Tips for Families

Avoid Memorial Day Weekend; the play area is packed and the smell of lighter fluid from the grills scattered throughout is overpowering throughout the playground area. Try to go in the morning if at all possible, as I've noticed that late afternoons seem to attract a less savory crowd for whom family-friendly pursuit are not the purpose of their visit. Thankfully, the park appears fairly well-staffed, and I've witnessed staff members ask visitors with alcohol and/or other prohibited items to leave.

Tips for Families

Expect a crowd in the afternoon, especially just after lunch. Opt for the morning when the weather is cooler and you just might get the whole place to yourself.

Suggestions for nearby family-friendly restaurants

If you want to grab a coffee, check out the adjacent Freedom of Espresso or hit Starbucks, which is on the same street on the left when you're driving toward the shops at Towne Center. The shopping center includes lots of child-friendly options, including UNO Chicago Grill, King David's (good, inexpensive Middle Eastern - try it!), Great Northern Pizza, and Panera Bread. Wegmans DeWitt, a short drive away, also offers great take-out options during the day with enough variety to please everyone.

Tips for Families

The restaurant next door, The Limestone Grille, is still pretty great for a small town restaurant. We eat there a couple of times every November, and there are a wide range of child-friendly menu options.
