Family-friendly activities on the waterfront
Flag reviewTips for Families
Depending on the season, it may be necessary to reserve tickets for Alcatraz Island up to three months in advance. If possible, take public transportation to the waterfront to bypass driving and parking in this busy city (with hilly, one-way streets).

Wear comfy shoes because walking is the best way to experience the wharf.

The sea lions are great for little ones, and adventurous young eaters can sample some of the freshest seafood around.

YesAnother hot spot of attractions for tourists here in San Francisco. There's not a lot to do here except for dining and shopping. But there is an aquar...
Fisherman's Wharf was really fun. Looked like a really great place for a family to hang out for probably the whole day. There was a free magic show geared towards kids, and plenty of restaurants and shops to keep you busy. Pier 39 had a space dedicated to sea lions so it was exceptionally fun to watch them basking in the sun and barking at each other. This is a great place to get a variety of tickets to Alcatraz or ferry to the Golden Gate bridge and around Alcatraz. There was some kind of vintage looking train (not the Red Trolly) that was cruising up and down the Wharf that could be fun. This was obviously a great place for seafood hence being at a Wharf and other members in my group seemed to enjoy some c...

I sometimes like to hike from downtown Market Street to Fisherman's Wharf whenever I'm in San Francisco. I prefer to come here during low season including weekends and holidays, so I can avoid the crowd. I used to go to San Francisco a lot when I used to live in Reno. My friends and I would drive down every month just for the heck of it. It still looks the same as I remembered it except for a few new shops. I always have a great time at the Wharf and Pier 39. I Love watching the Sea lions, but I witnessed one of the ghastliest things here a few years ago. This pelican ate one of the smaller birds at the wharf! The kids watching were mortified! You know how big their mouths are. It just gobbled the whole thin...

I don't really get it, I mean, its like what San Francisco wants people to think it is like, to people who don't live there. The warf area is nothing like the mission, or soma, and not like the polk gulch at all. Is tha...
