This is written as a first time snowboarder --- I have never been snowboarding in my life and Heavenly was a great place to start learning ---- if the snow had been more plentiful.  Thank goodness for the man made snow, but I was hoping I was going to land on soft snow, but nonetheless, I landed on hard as rock ice snow.  (Ow!) All the staff here is really nice.  I did not pay for lessons as my friend was teaching me.  But the workers would give out words of advice and kind words, every time I fell (Even when I fell on the kid's slope).  It was really sweet of them.  I think this place would be awesome with the right snow. My only dislike of this place --- HOLY PRICES.  A half day of skiing was $76.  That is...

This is my home mountain.  Stagecoach lift is 5 minutes from my house. Heavenly is getting better at customer service over the last two years.  Operators seem more friendly and they have been updating the mountain.   Great for tree skiing and good intermediate runs.  I would like a little more steeps besides Mott and Kil.   Chairlifts are good. They do need to upgrade several lifts: North Bowl - love the area but the lift kills. Leave Boulder slow especially since it is used by beginners but NB needs to be a quad.  You have a huge parking lot at Boulder which you can't use since getting to the top takes so long. Galaxy - especially since they are adding terrain there. It would be nice to get the area to the ...

Some really good things: lots of lifts, and the run they lines smoothly, so even on a day last week when snow and wind closed half the lifts, I still waited in less much less time then I did the week before at Sierra-at-Tahoe.  If you are dropping off a munchkin at ski school: this was by far the best organized drop off I've done (other kids' schools we tried this year were Alpine, Northstar, and Sierra), and the teacher (we got Mark, from Norton, Mass.) was awesome.   The downsides: they didn't seem to have a lot of long, uninterrupted runs from top to bottom, at least on the California side (we couldn't get to the NV side due to the weather. And then: price. The kid ski school was $175 for the day! and adu...

With the addition of Northstar and piggy back of Sierra for this season (2010-2011) , the pass was well worth it!  3 mountains, ridiculously cheap price (if you purchased it during the summer). The amount of snowfall has been great and we've taken advantage of it.  Spend the day in the trees, cruising around the mountain on the trails.  We saw the Tamarack Lodge.  Pretty big!  Busy at the time we went, but lots of seating, especially outdoors.  Now visitors who pay that $30 to ride the gondola to the top can get their money's worth.  I saw a bunch of people just hanging out while their kids ski/board.  That works! 13" of freshies fell today.  Great times!  It renewed some areas that started to build up ice. ...

Heavenly is great. Okay it is a bit pricey, but outsie of that it is awesome, especially for families. We just spent the weekend in tahoe a couple weeks back for my wife's birthday and through Heavenly in the mix, great choice. It wasn't too crowded due to it being super bowl weekend, yep that's right fellas, i took my wife to tahoe on super bowl weekend...another great decision. Anyway, the snow was perfect, the people are very nice and the lodge has outstanding food. I loved the hearty homestyle selections and the gourmet stuff, i loved it all! The kids had a blast on the inner tube slopes, they have a walking treadmill thing that takes you up the hill, because it is a climb, very convenient. You can do up...

I've skied Heavenly since the late 80's and lots has changed over the years, for the better of course.  I can say it is one of my absolute favorites.  I just wish they'd consider a direct lift to the top of Killebrew & Mott Canyon.  This time around i was skiing by myself while my son was in ski school.  i must say, the snow coverage was phenomenal.  Friendly, kind and competent staff at the ski school.  Friendly staff at the lifts and other food facilities.  All runs were open, all lifts were open, with lots of ski patrols & guides at the major lifts.  Yes, it is expensive & yes California Trail sucks because of flatness, but it does takes you to The Face...As for the eye candy, PLENTIFUL! I think i may act...

It was my first time at Heavenly, I've been to Northstar, Sierra, Kirkwood, Donner's, Squaw- so the resort was nothing new to me. We arrived on the CA side of the mountain and my first impression was "meh". You're presented with 2 lifts, after taking the Gunbarrel lift I was a bit more open because I was greeted with another set of lifts. Apparently it took 3 lifts to reach the summit. Coming down was easy- but holy jebus there are so many skiiers- and they're not all decent enough. My girlfriend and I were working our way into the lift lines when this skiier just plows into the lane we were getting into (there are 4 total) and totally runs over her board. Not the resort's fault I know, but the crowd has an ...

Just renewed my third year as a season pass holder! No, I don't do the Epic pass thing; the regular pass is great enough deal on its own. I'm also looking forward to trying out the snow at Northstar - now a part of the Vail resort family. Also, as a full time student, I get an even cheaper deal on the pass: $279. If you're going to school, I highly recommend taking advantage! Just consider how expensive it is to purchase a single lift ticket for a single day ($75)...and if you live in the Sacramento/Bay area you will certainly want make it to South Lake Tahoe more than once or twice a season...yeah, if you can do the math, you get the idea. I went two days last month, and the snow was already deeeeep! I'm ho...

I've skied at dozens of ski resorts all over the USA from VT to CO to CA. If I had my choice I'd stick to the Rocky Mountains. But I've lived in the Bay area recently so I mostly ski Tahoe these days.  Up until a recent trip to Heavenly I was always going to Alpine Meadows/Squaw and/or Northstar - or Rose on a crowded day. I must admit I loved Heavenly and it is now my favorite (although I'll take Alpine anyday after a dump of new snow). I found the staff very friendly, great ski school for children and enough varied terrain for all levels - even some great mogul runs. Admittedly, I was here on a non-crowded day with good snow and lots of sunshine so what was not to like. One reviewer complained of high pric...
