Tips for Families

Wear comfortable walking shoes. Even if you ride the zoo tram, you'll want to hop off and see exhibits close up.

Beautiful zoo with well kept, animal friendly habitats, and lots of care for the animals.

Tips for Families

School days are very crowded with school tours, but you can avoid this by going later in the day as most buses will need to leave by 1:30 to return to school. Early in the morning and later in the day you'll see more activity from the animals. To avoid very large crowds don't go on holidays!

Tips for Families

If you live in LA, buy a season pass. If not, try to go off peak or first thing in the morning. It gets HOT in summer and they have a problem bees in August.

We went there with four adults and five kids on a very hot day. We started around 10:15 and it was perfect. No lines and we were able to go inside without waiting. Yeah the zoo had a lot of hills and it was rough to push the double stroller but enjoyed watching animals. My daughte...

It cant compare to San Diego Zoo but it's the best that LA offers and I really love the giraffe viewing area and the apes.  There are a couple of places to eat, but n...

Highly recommend going here during the week for a great experience. I went with my friend's and their 14 month year old daughter for the day. Parking was easy and entrance fee wasn't too bad.  If you go during the week there is hardly anyone there. Lov...

If an author penned a clever coffee table book on the "Worst Zoos in America", the LA Zoo would certainly be in the top three. I'm not even sure if this zoo can properly be called a "zoo". It is more of the natural Griffith Park environment with some enclosures. Actually, Griffith Park itself is much more serene and even the squirrels are happier than the LA Zoo animals. You think I'm being harsh? Check it out for yourself. The LA Zoo will fool you into thinking it is a large, sprawling animal kingdom based on its massive gate entry. Heck, even I admit that I was fooled. Sadly, all of the money on renovations and updates must have gone toward that gates-of-heaven entryway because the rest of the zoo downrigh...

Love this place! Okay, so I really need to renew my zoo membership since it lapsed over the past couple months... but when it was active... I came here several times a month. I really need to go back to see the new elephant exhibit... they were building it for over a year... and of course, my membership expires when I actually want to go see the new exhibit. I am not a "monkey" girl... but the gorilla exhibit is amazing...and a place where I spent much of my time. I don't know. It's just so amazing to see the gorillas... doing their thing and it seems like they're much closer than any of the other exhibits. I can spend hours just staring at them and observing their behavior. :) I don't know. I really like an...

I love the LA Zoo! Great place to bring the family or just hang out with friends. It has a good variety of animals and species. It has a lot of hills once you make your way towards the middle of...
