137 Foot Waterfall & Great Picnic SpotFlag review
Pratt's Falls is another beautiful waterfall in Central New York. Visit the park after a good rainfall to see it at its best and enjoy the view from the observation area (flat, stroller-friendly, easily walkable). Let the kids run free along the trails and in the field areas, and pack a picnic to eat at one of the many picnic tables. Prior to my daughter being born, my husband and I once trekked down the trails to see the base of the falls, and it was lovely. However, it's absolutely not stroller-friendly and I don't recommend taking that path with small children. Overall, this park makes a great lunch stop if you love waterfalls as much as we do.
Tips for Families
Beware of other park visitors who don't leash their dogs. They're supposed to, but the park isn't always staffed and it's impossible to enforce without a staff presence. Take a look at Google Maps before you go to make sure that your GPS is sending you on the most direct route. When I attempted what should have been a relatively straightforward drive last Spring with my mom and then 18 month old daughter, my GPS took us on a long and wild ride all over the countryside for no apparent reason. At least it the long drive was fairly scenic. The same GPS got us back to our starting destination in about a third of the time it took us to get there in the first place. Bizarre!
