Exploring the backstory of the first President's homeFlag review
The boys loved this open-air museum that explores the lives of the slaves who ran George Washington's home. My older son was big enough to read and ask questions about the placards on the walls of the structure. My younger son got just as much out of it by listening to and watching the video vignettes throughout. I loved that this important part of history was in the centre of the historical district adding to a more complete picture of the nation's founding.
Tips for Families
Free and out in the open, it's a great place to pass time while waiting for timed entries to other local historical sites.
