Tips for Families

Ladies, wear your hair up in a ponytail. It is really windy on the observation deck, and if you wear your hair down it will be a tangled mess by the time you leave. Keep this in mind too for kids who have long hair and hate having it combed.

My husband walked over to the tower from our hotel to kill some time.  The grounds outside are really quite pretty.  I had a coupon for $2 off for each of us (found on the riverwalk website). Total cost for the 2 of us was under $20 with tax.   We took the elevator to the observation deck.  Interesting mural about the 6 Flags over Texas.  Even being a native & having taken Texas history in both Junior High & College, there were a few nuggets I didn't know.  The view was good, it wasn't all that windy, but nothing spectacular.  Doesn't compare to Vegas or Seattle.   The 4D ride was a little bit better than I had expected, but my expectation level was very low.  Was it hokey?  yes.  It was good though for all ...

Oh dear. This is a tourist trap, beware! The view was nice, everything stops after you catch the view. The movie theatre wasn't running it's 4-D film, the restaurants were closed at 2:00 PM (but the gift shop was wide awake). No face to ...

The tower of Americas was about what I expected. It was entertaining but  probably something I wouldn't do again. There is a 10.95 charge for the view. There is a restaurant up there (The Chart House) definitely recommend making reservations beforehand or expect at least an hours wait--(personally, the food had 3 star prices for 1 star eats.) The view of the city during the day is ok, we got there right at sunset so we witnessed both day and night views,  an added plus is the tower is located just a few steps from the river walk which has shops and restaurants galore. If your arms are long enough to go above the plexi you'll get some pretty nice pics of the city. There is a  souvenir shop downstairs and ther...

I love the new additions and changes made here a couple of years ago.  It's definitely a far cry from what it used to be.  The family and I love going on the 4-D ride!  Too cool.  And you don't have to p...

This is one thing you can totally do without.  All you are doing is paying for the ticket, waiting FOREVER for the elevator to come down, going up then walking around the top.  San Antonio is a great city, but they are not known for their skylines or huge gorgeous buildings etc. I would rather spend more time on the Riverwalk and do  the...
