No Ordinary Gazebo - Another Hidden GemFlag review
My husband and I took our daughter (then 20 months old) to Onondaga Park in Syracuse - not to be confused with Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool, although that's another great park for kids in the region - in the summer of 2012. The main reason? I saw photos of the gazebo set on Hiawatha Lake online, and I had to see it in person. It's one of those "I can't believe we have something this beautiful in our area" places, and believe it or not, many local friends had no idea where it was when I posted photos from our visit online! So apparently, much like Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazenovia, this park is another hidden local gem. In addition to the incredible gazebo views, the park offers a large playground, a huge swimming pool with a spray fountain for children, basketball and tennis courts, and lots of walking trails. The only downside that I noticed was that there was a fair amount of littering, especially along the water's edge near the gazebo. I hope that the Park & Rec Department takes measures to prevent this from continuing, because it's the only blemish on what should be one of the best parks in the city.
Tips for Families
If you want to have family photos taken while you're in Syracuse, definitely consider using the gazebo at Onondaga Park as a backdrop.
