Great visit for toddlers!

Flag review

We had a great visit to this museum over the weekend. It was too cold to play for too long in the snow, so we headed in here to warm up. We had two toddlers with us who spend over a half-hour roaring at the lions and bears in the hall of mammals. Then we headed to the hall of ocean life, which was tailor-made for little ones! This huge hall with a giant whale hanging from the ceiling has the open space for kids to run around and explore, and also the benches for parents to relax.

Tips for Families

Ticket prices appear steep ($25.00 each) but they're just "suggested" prices. If you go to the ticket counter instead of the ticket machines, you can actually name your own price. We usually pay $5.00 per ticket.

Party under the whale!

Flag review

As an adult, I find I'm always a bit disappointed with this museum, but after this visit I see that it's really tailor-made for kids. I brought my toddler along with some of her friends and they had a blast. They spent a good half-hour in the hall of mammals roaring at the lions and bears, then we headed to the hall of ocean life. This huge space with a giant whale hanging from the ceiling offered the perfect space for parents to sit and allow their kids to run and explore. Perfect for a cold and blustery day in NYC.

Tips for Families

Although tickets appear pricey ($25 each), that's actually only a "suggested" price. If you go to the counter (not the machines), you can tell the ticket person exactly how much you want to pay per ticket. We usually do $5.00 each.
