Reasonably priced suites in a good location

Flag review

I read mixed reviews of this hotel, some saying it was a great location and others saying it was in a less than safe part of town. I checked with a friend from Toronto and she said it would be fine, even confirming with her brother who still lived there. The 2 bedroom jr. suite was not exactly what I was expecting but it was very nice. I thought one of the bedrooms would have two twin beds but that was my mistake. The hotel does not have any suites with three beds. We ended up putting the kids in the king bed and the parents in the smaller bedroom. The kitchenette was okay for what little we used it. The buffet breakfast was great for us. (Just watch for other guests stealing your table! Keep one person at the table while others get their food.) Kids loved checking out the rooftop hot tub area. Great view! Would have been great for lounging if we had more time.

Tips for Families

If you have a car, the zoo and science center are a lot of fun. We walked to the CN Tower and Skydome for a baseball game.

Quick weekend at Disney World

Flag review

We spent a quick weekend at Disney World in October, using some Disney Vacation Club points of my sister's that were going to expire. We didn't book early but I think we did well for the short amount of planning time we had. Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort is not where we usually stay at Disney World. We prefer Beach Club and the easy walk to Epcot but Saratoga was surprisingly convenient. Multiple bus stops meant we didn't have to walk far from our room to the bus. And the buses were frequent. We had just 2.5 days and didn't want to waste our limited time waiting. The kids liked the food options in the quick serve restaurant, and we ordered groceries to be delivered so we could have breakfast in our room. The kids liked to sit on the balcony for breakfast. I took my five year old daughter to the spa for a little girl time while my husband took our son to do a few more rides the last morning of our visit. She adored the mani-pedi. Everyone was great and made her first spa experience a fun and relaxed one. We did not get to the pools or playgrounds but they looked fun. Next time!

Tips for Families

The boat to Downtown Disney is as good as an attraction for littler kids.

Staff goes above and beyond for kids and adults

Flag review

We arrived for a one night stay in Boston before an afternoon baseball game. Our room wasn't ready but the staff was incredibly helpful with storing our bags and giving us the best route to Fenway Park. They also asked what we would like to have in the room when we got back. I was confused! They explained, but I still didn't quite get it. More on that later. We returned after the free wine hour was over but we were given free drink coupons for the bar. Up in the room we found snacks, drinks, and fresh cookies. What a fantastic surprise! The kids were thrilled to find robes their size in the room, and a fish bowl with a named fish swimming around. The next day I tweeted that the kids missed the fish. Staff replied immediately. Check out was just as smooth as check in. The staff gave us more great directions and recommendations. Marlowe is top of my list the next time we are in Boston.

Tips for Families

Cambridge is a great location for families. The Marlowe is a very short walk from the T, the Science Center, and Duck Tour loading.
