Fun fun fun!

Flag review

Loved the lodge, water park! Only complaint is the cost of food and magi quest game. We had a great time.

Tips for Families

We are homeschoolers and it was great going at off times. No crowds or lines!

Dream Vacation

Flag review

Discovery Cove is an all-inclusive park. It IS a little pricey, but for the breakfast and lunch, which was pretty good and as much as you wanted, all the snacks, drinks, even alcoholic beverages you want, snorkels and masks, sunscreen and beach towels, lockers & swim vests/suits. It was more than worth it. And the way they treated you was amazing! They wouldn’t even let you take your meal trash to the trash cans! IT was very clean. We checked in, got our photo IDs and then walked into the most beautiful landscaped area you could dream of. I felt like I was in the Bahama’s (though I’ve never been!) My son knows how much I was looking forward to this and he patted me on the shoulder… that’s all it took. I started crying. I just couldn’t believe I was there!!! A younger man came up to us to welcome and ask if we had questions or needed directions and I couldn’t hardly talk to him. I told him, I was sorry, but I was very emotional right now and had dreamed of this for a long time. I felt sorry for him, here is a lady CRYING, He said, “Are you okay?” I just nodded my head and smiled…then I was okay and off we went! (I’m about to cry writing this!) They have 3 aviary areas. This was something I really didn’t know much about and wasn’t much interested in, but it was wonderful! They gave you FREE food to feed the birds. (NOT $3.00–7.00 per cup like zoos or Busch Gardens charge) FREE as many times as you wanted a cup! We probably did this for at least 1 hour . The birds would come right to you, some would land on your arm, hand. My son had a couple of Asian Pigeons land on his head. My son has a lot of pictures on his camera, which I will post as soon as UPS delivers it…he lost it…twice. We only took his camera to Discovery Cove because it is waterproof and digital. The lazy river was fun, it was deep in areas and then it would be very shallow. I didn’t use the snorkel through half of it the first time, because I’m not big on the masks…but when I did, I realized they had stuff on the bottom! A cannon, some large vases, “Mayan” ruins, rocks, it was really neat. I would suggest you use a life jacket, it can get very tiring! I used a “noodle” the second time and I wished I’d had a life jacket. Also, this water was WARM. Then to the Coral Reef and Ray pools. They are very COLD. But well worth getting in. The coral reef was beautiful, there was shallow parts and VERY deep parts. I’m not sure how deep, maybe 20? – 25? ? If you snorkeled in the deep end you could see BIG fish and GIANT Rays! I guess these aren’t the deadly rays, but I imagine some were 6-8? wide. They were a little intimidating. My son chased one in medium deep water and finally touched it. There are some underground windows in one part where you see sharks and another, barracudas. LM saw the sharks. The shallow end had beautiful fish and large schools of fish and rays. The Ray pool was cold. I only got up to my bottom but as I was standing there the ray’s would swim by, several at a time. You could bend down and pet them as they swam by. Amazing how soft and gentle they were. LM was in the pool and swam with them and pet alot of them. 2:20 was our time to SWIM WITH THE DOLPHINS!!! You all know how much I was looking forward to this!! We went to the dolphin area to sign in. They have about a 10 minute “class” on what you should and shouldn’t do around them and then we went to the dolphin pool. Talk about COLD!!! BRRRR!!!! We had to get up to our waists or so, immediately…no inching in!! But we did it and it was everything I dreamed it would be. There were several groups of people in this large area of water. Only about 7-9 in our group. We had several dolphins come up to us that they kept telling us weren’t supposed to be over here, they just liked us….but we ended up with one, Aries. She was beautiful. We helped her do tricks, splash, wave, make “you know what” noises from her blow hole, which the kids loved!…we acted like we shot her and she rolled over on her back. You don’t get to actually SWIM very far with them, but we played and pet het A LOT—about 30 minutes, which, of course was NOT LONG enough for me, but I cherish every single minute of it. I had DREAMED of this.
