Fun for the entire family

Flag review

On a cloudy or cold day, going to Pirate's Cover is fun for the entire family.

Tips for Families

Be prepared to wait in line for other golfers to take their turn. If you have kids, come prepared with thinking games to kill the time.

Summer Fun on Lake Michigan

Flag review

Lighthouse Beach is our favorite NorthShore beach. Just north of Chicago, this beach is perfect for playing in the sand, beach games, and swimming. It also has a great playground for younger kids.

Tips for Families

Bring lunch or dinner or order Pizza from Sarpinos (they will delivery right to the beach).

Amazing Family Vacation at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island

Flag review

Mission Point Resort offered our family the ultimate vacation. It had everything we needed for 3 full days of family fun. We highly recommend eating at The Bistro on the Greens, then playing the 18-hole putting course as a family, and then walking into for ice cream and/or fudge. After a long day, take the horse and buggy ride back to the hotel. Mission Point Resort offers bicycle rentals, golfing, a movie theater, a health club, a spa, a kids club, an arcade, an observation tower, ghost tours, kayak rentals, a small pool, tennis, croquet, bocce ball, and more.

Tips for Families

Mission Point has Family Suites, which no other hotel on the island offers. The family suites have two separate bedrooms, which gave the kids a fun sense of freedom and it gave my husband and I some rest and relaxation when we were in our room. Tip: Have your luggage delivered directly to our hotel room and enjoy the leisurely 10 minute walk to Mission Point from the ferry.

Fun Chicago Vacation - Adler Planetarium

Flag review

Visiting the Adler Planetarium in Chicago is a great weekend trip. From the Swissotel, you can take a water taxi to the Adler Planetarium (kids love the water taxi). And after spending a long day at the Adler Planetarium, you can enjoy being at the Swissotel for dinner, rest, and relaxation.

Tips for Families

Plan on taking the water taxi to the planetarium and then taking a regular (and faster) taxi back to the hotel (depending on the ages of your kids, they may be too tired for the water taxi). Kids will love the indoor pool at the Swissotel...and if you time it right, you can watch the sun set from the pool on the 42nd floor.

Michigan Family Fun

Flag review

Boyne Highlands is a great summer getaway for families. They have complimentary lawn games, ping pong tables, chairlift rides, biking trails, canoeing, fishing in the small ponds, golfing, hiking, spa services, swimming, tennis, the Young Americans Dinner Theatre, and more.

Tips for Families

Visit the spa! The new spa facility at Boyne Highlands offers massages, body treatments, facials and seasonal treatments. With only four treatment rooms, the beginning-to-end experience is intimate, personal, quiet, and relaxing.

Family Friendly Luxury Vacation

Flag review

f you want the ultimate kid-friendly luxurious local escape, the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago is the perfect destination. My family stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago over President’s weekend and all four of us never wanted to leave. From the moment we walked into the lobby a wave of r-e-l-a-x-a-t-i-o-n pour over us. It was truly magical and we all felt we were treated like royalty. When we arrived in our beautiful room, we found a breathtaking view of Lake Michigan and four luxurious bathrobes (2 adult sizes and 2 kid sizes). I immediately got comfy and put on my bathrobe, but to my surprise, so did everyone else.

Tips for Families

Have the ice cream trolley visit your room. The play room is ideal for children under 4. Wear your bathrobes to the pool. Don't over plan your Chicago vacation so you have plenty of time to simply relax at the hotel.

Family Friendly, Relaxing, Ultimate Family Vacation

Flag review

We loved Sundial because of all of the kid-friendly activities. Our kids loved the Coastal Observatory Center that had a huge touch tank, aquarium, and live turtles. We loved the pool (with a slide), the beach, and their daily fun activities for the kids.

Tips for Families

Buy food off of the island and bring it to Sundial with you. Save money by having breakfast and lunch in your room (on the balcony is best).
