Hours of play in the Big BackyardFlag review
The Big Backyard is a fabulous play area for children! There's a treehouse, a lawn with hula hoops, a small "creek" for wading. and small play houses. Our favorites are the tunnels to crawl through, the drums to beat on, and music house with a variety of ways to make sound. Many of the play areas have educational applications- the tree house has clues for guessing which bird is being described, for example. There's a central building that is used for classes and parties, and a small refreshment stand. In the warm months, there are periodic rain "storms" where the rain falls in one area and kids (and parents) can cool off. Admission is free with admission to the Botanic Gardens.
Tips for Families
On the other side of the Gardens is a koi pond where kids can feed the fish and chase the geese. The Botanic Gardens is a great place for a birthday party, too- they have several theme parties available.
