My Travel Style

I have yet to find my travel style..I just started making the time last year to plan getaways with my family. What I am is impulsive ..I'm that frugle mom that will snatch up a last minute trip, as budgeting is my first name ..frugle is my last ;). I have a champagne taste, so all inclusive is the way for me. My thinking is, i now have the choice to dine at a 4 star restaurant if I choose, plus it gives me extra money to do what I do best , shop . I am that person that researches every aspect of a hotel, flight, restaurants etc. before I go. Trip advisor is the holy grail for opinions, ratings etc. (Besides Mini Time, of course). I have yet to see the crystal clear waters of the Carribean, that is my next trip. I have yet to take a Cruise, I am still researching every ship, every port etc. I would love to take a spa vacation, all by myself. It's something exciting that is on my bucket list. In the meantime, I travel with my family, I have an 8 year old son. The smiles on his face when we vacation are priceless . Vacationing is the secret to a close bond between family.

FUN FUN FUN For Kids & Parents Too

Flag review

I booked a last minute visit for my sons 7th birthday surprise and learned a lot in the interim..see tip for families #1! We didn't get there until 5:00 pm, but we still had a blast. Upon arriving at the hotel' we were greeted by the hotel concierge, which was nice to have our bags taken to our room. The gramd lobby hotel entrance was breathtaking , to say the least. The GRAND CLOCK TOWER was fascinating, the characters come to life and my son was tickled to see Wiley the wolf giving high -paws with all of the kids. The grand lobby and hotel is in a rustic cabin theme with huge 25 foot ceilings, music. It was like walking into a camp party for kids. We unfortunately had to stay at the far end of the hotel in the business wing, we didn't care. We weren't planning on staying in the room. It was a long long walk to get to the water park (see tip #6). The indoor watermark had plent of tables to sit at, but make sure you leave your valuables in the room. My son loved Mackenzie Falls, an indoor tree fort with dumping buckets of water and lots of fun stairs. River Canon Run was our favorite, a huge tube with disco lights, music and a raft to fit our whole family . My son thought I was silly for laughing so hard. There are lots of different water themes, family and adult only hot springs, wave pools etc. we will return again in the summer, which is nice because the indoor water tubes start inside and end outside. Great wolf lodge created great memories for out family. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet the next morning, it was a little pricey, but well worth it with the made to order omelet station.

Tips for Families

1. Book your trip mid week in off season (between holidays for the best Rate) 2. Arrive at the resort as soon as they open, they will give you family wristbands for water park, check in for the hotel is late in the afternoon. Get your money's worth!! 3. Book an indulgence at the Aveda Salon. Especially moms, it gets a little loud in the indoor water park, you may need some "me" time ! 4. Bring bottled water , snacks, small microwaveable meals etc. Every room has a microwave & Small Fridge. 5. Bring a water proof Camera, we brought out Go-Pro, your camera will defiantly get wet! 6. Book a room close to the water park, some of the rooms are a very long walk. 7. Bring water Shoes for the little ones, the ground is non skid, but you never know with toddlers.

One of THE BEST PLACES to visit in ORLANDO FL

Flag review

After reading the reviews on TRIP ADVISOR, I knew this tropical themed resort was a must see for our family. Upon arriving into the guest reception area (which was breath taking) I knew we were in for a treat. The concierge was welcoming and informative. They gave us an itinerary of our day, including our scheduled time to SWIM WITH THE DOLPHINS. We had our photos taken and given a badge to wear for the day and also given a bag with a snorkel and mask for each of us. We did not have to bring anything with us, beach chairs, towels, sunscreen, snacks, drinks and private lockers were included. We were given instructions on how to get to the dining cabana (family eating area) to start our day with breakfast (everything included). The winding walkways were filled with tropical foliage, palm trees and exotic flowers. We were stopped halfway where someone was waiting to take a family photo in front of a beautiful backdrop of lush greenery (included). I was pretty taken back by the restaurant area. Every breakfast food imaginable was at our request, along with fresh fruit, juices, coffees etc (included). My son enjoyed the live steel band playing island music. We visited the freshwater oasis which was a comfortable 80 degrees. The water flowed and we saw exotic birds, sea otters, visited a bird atrium which we were given food to feed the birds that would even sit on your arm. I saw what looked like a pink flamingo high in one of the trees, watching for swimmers to pass under. Thank god I wasn't the won who received the surprise this bird was giving!! We enjoyed floating through on pool noodles, under huge waterfalls and sitting up on rocks to take a rest. We enjoyed the grand reef which was simply amazing. Swimming unde water with sting rays, tropical fish and coming face to face with a shark (enclosed). We enjoyed a wonderful lunch half wy through our day. The showers were equipped with shampoo, towels, body lotions, hair dryers etc. our scheduled dolphin swim was simply amazing. The trainers had us in very small groups, educated us on the nature of the dolphins, safety and what to expect. The look on my sons face was priceless. To this day, he still talks about our dolphin for the day (Rosie) and her gentle nature of swimming him in. The day was absolutely A ONCE IN A LIFETIME experience and I cannot wait to go back again this year.

Tips for Families

The only tips I can share is 1. Get a good nights sleep the night before 2. Do not forget your camera !! We invested in a go-pro (under water camera) and the video snorkeling in the grand reef was really cool.
